For pH measurement, a glass electrode, a reference electrode, and a temperature sensor for temperature compensation are required, but a pH composite electrode in which a glass electrode, a reference electrode, and a temperature sensor are also integrated is generally used. The typical shape of the pH composite electrode is made of glass film at the tip and ceramic at the liquid junction, but sleeves are also available depending on the application.
The pH electrode for tabletops is made of glass to accommodate a wide variety of samples, including strong acids and alkalis. However, the portable pH electrode is made of robust plastic, considering its field use.
